“Locke & Key” at The Stonehouse

“Locke & Key” at The Stonehouse

What does Netflix’s newest hit "Locke and Key", The Stonehouse and Ed Mirvish have in common? Well, stained glass of course! We were very excited to work with the props department of “Locke and Key”, a popular comic book written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodríguez, turned into a hit Netflix series.  Our Ed Mirvish Victorian window sporting some antique keys. This window was featured as a prop in Netflix's "Locke & Key" The window that was selected for the scene is rich in colour and hand painted from the late 1800’s. A matching window was not so lucky. The lead on the second window had suffered corrosion, a few of the painted pieces were broken, and thus became a pile if gnarled lead came and glass, that was carefully stored away for a rainy day. Our team of restoration artists set to work. The intact pieces were laid out, and the broken panes assessed. The original lead was observed, and rescued where possible to maintain as much of the original materials as possible. Now, the hunt...
